Bizarrely - This contains spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
You know in Spider-Man No Way Home it feels as if they've condensed Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man 3 arc in around thirty minutes? There's elements here that feels like Lily Allen and and Lady Sovereign have appeared in the Caity Baser Universe to assist in the fight against everything and everyone. At several points this feels like the third Lady Sovereign album we never had ("I'm a Problem" even has an Ordinary Boys-style ska-breakdown appear half way through alongside similar vocal inflections in the chorus).
But there's a lot of fun in this. The aforementioned 20 years of pop-rap combine with flourishes of modern dance-pop, so you can throw in Charli XCX, Becky Hill and Dua Lipa in this as well. But the out-and-out braziness makes Baser stand out, defining her own character and personality from the get go amongst these influences.
It's sliiiiiightly let down by the fact there's stuff from earlier EPs in the track listing, but they're the best songs from there anyway. It's just that this 'mixtape-not-an-album' feels like it's a summary of Baser's music to date, rather than the kick start in a new direction.
